House to True Korean Cuisine in Penang, Han Sik Ga

Anyeong!
Many of you don't know I'm actually quite a K fan and who doesn't right? Hot oppas hot onees, delicious food and also cute kids! I'm a Return of Superman fan so there's where my K craze goes lol. And all you K food lover get excited, there's a new Korean cuisine house in town and I'm pretty sure you don't wanna miss it. Han Sik Ga is one of the latest addition to Korean cuisine at Gurney Plaza, Penang. Located on the 7th floor which is the same floor as the cinema, I'm pretty sure all you Penangites know where it is. Han-Sik-Ga actually means “true Korean food house”. Han-Sik-Ga serve authentic Korean food with a wide variety for you to choose from! Got you hungry yet? Read on to know what I've managed to taste and got educated about.

I've always wanted to go Korea all cause the Koreans make their food looked extra delicious when they eat it and I'm always curious bout does it really taste that good? And so I've finally gotten to taste and God I would definitely go back for more. I literally felt like I was in Korea somewhere enjoying their famous dishes (no harm dreaming a lil bit here right lol.) So let me continue to make your mouth water.

Bossam (M rm50 L rm70)

This dish is called the Bossam. It's braised pork belly and shoulder with crunchy radish Kimchi. This is one healthy dish because the sliced meat is actually steamed  with pork bone and pork meat, making each slice extra juicy and soft. The right way to enjoy the Bossam is that you'll have to wrap the meat with lettuce, radish, pickle and bean paste. This dish is absolutely best to share and to enjoy during a chilly weather.

Haemul Sundubu Jjigae rm24

This is definitely one of my fav cause I really love soupy food and this is Kimchi soup, I would never say no to Kimchi soup. So this dish is called Haemul Sundubu Jjigae, soft tofu stew with assorted seafood and vegetables. It feel so good to enjoy this dish with a bowl of rice. Perfect!

Jaeyuk Dolsot Bibimbap rm24

This dish is called the Jaeyuk Dolsot Bibimbap. I'm pretty sure a lot of you know what Bibimbap is, “Jaeyuk” actually means spicy pork and “dolsot” means stoned bowl, hence it's hot stone bowl mixed rice with spicy pork and assorted vegetables. If you're a small eater like me, I'd probably advise you to share plus sharing is caring right? If your not a vege person, it's better not to order this cause it is mostly rice and vege lol cause you know Koreans are actually very health conscious. As a true Korean dining house, Han Sik Ga  prepares everything with natural ingredients and also imported goods from Korea.

Gochujang Dakgalbi rm35

This dish is loved by all Malaysians and I'm sure most of us know what this dish is called. This is Gochujang Dakgalbi, which is spicy pan fried chicken with assorted vegetables and rice cakes. As you can see, this dish is served with cheese and I can tell you, give me all those cheeeesseee! Here's a tip, when you order the Gochujang Dakgalbi be sure to order a bowl of rice with it. When you're done with the rice cakes and the pan fried chicken, add the bowl of rice and fry it with the leftover sauce and if you liked to have more cheese, go all out with it! Hahaha if you're not sure how to do it, don't worry Han Sik Ga’s friendly staff would be happy to assist you upon request.

Nakji Somyun rm32

This is probably my favorite dish, Nakji Somyun. It's spicy marinated baby octopus with Korean thin noodles and vegetables. “Nakji” which means baby octopus in korean (you learn a another Korean word today lol). The thin noodle is room temperature and before you feast its a must to mix it together well. They are so generous with their baby octopus and the sauce, just super memorable. I'd go back for more for this dish.

Dakganjeong

Last but not least the snack that got us all wanting more, the Dakganjeong, fried boneless chicken in Korean sweet sauce. This is seriously so addicted and definitely best enjoyed as a snack during a night out. And as you can see they serve pickled radish as a side to reduce the oiliness when you munch on the fried chicken. To perfect this dish, pair it with some Korean beer. It'll be the best night snack while you binge on your favorite Korean drama I would say. Lol

Honest opinion, all along I thought that Korean cuisine must have is their barbecue but that's not the case. There's actually more than just what you normally have in any other Korean restaurants and the variety is just crazy! When I first looked at the menu I was like wow, what am I supposed to order? But after this review, I've managed to learn quite a lot of new Korean words especially those related to food actually. Hahah

What I really love of Han Sik Ga is each dish is served and prepared by a true Korean chef and she is a real talented woman. With 3 years of experience, Ms. Yang is the head chef of Han Sik Ga and most of the dish is of her recipes. You go woman! And as like all Korean dish which emphasize on the importance of natural ingredients and health consciousness, Han Sik Ga practices that too and by listening to them speak makes me feel like I was in Korea for a moment. Lol and oh if you're looking for a place to throw a party, Han Sik Ga even have a private area where you can organize a gathering for approximately 10-15pax. The interior of the private area is enough to make your jaw drop even before their dishes does.
