The bubble tea craze in Penang is no joke, there are so many different bubble tea shops opening in Penang and many Malaysians are just in love with it. One day I came across a question on social media asking "is bubble tea halal?". We all know that bubble tea originated from Taiwan which is a milk tea drink topped with chewy bubble pearls. During Taiwan Expo 2019 held on the 5th and 6th of July at Penang’s Setia SPICE Convention Centre featured the best halal products from Taiwan at the Taiwan Halal & Bubble Tea Pavilion.
With the growing bubble tea business in Penang and with the government eagerly developing our halal industry, there were plenty of business opportunities to be explored by Malaysian business owners between Taiwan's halal product manufacturers which includes halal food and beverages, Halal agricultural products and also halal beauty products.
These were the 5 main exhibitors known for the halal products and bubble tea maker in Taiwan.
Shih Chen Foods, Yilan Anyong LOHAS, FuFann Enterprise, Kuojer Enterprise and Yung Soon Lih Food Machine. The companies showcased their products stylishly riding in a trishaw which includes instant milk tea, premium fish essence, coconut paste, bubble tea raw ingredient, and multi-functional bubble tea cooker respectively.
There was even a live cooking show by our local Penang celebrity Chef, Chef Nurilkarim. The smell of the Nyonya Asam Fish Curry was making everyone hungry. (I could smell it way far from the stage where chef was cooking) Chef Nurilkarim prepared 2 dishes, Nyonya Asam Curry and Cucumber Acar( salad) by using Taiwanese halal products. Let me bring you on a tour around the halal products Pavillion.
Taiwanese innovations never fails to surprise me. So many halal products that under 1 roof definitely something what Malaysian Businesses should explore. To know more updates about what halal products were exhibit during Taiwan Expo 2019, check out their Official Facebook Page . Alright, I'm off to enjoy some bubble tea!
